
The Challenge
This page is designed to support your personal journey through The Challenge. Whether you need motivation, inspiration, or acceptance, we will supply you with weekly journal prompts and intentions. You can journal through this experience with me, or you can find some support by joining me every Friday to go over what The Challenge has brought this week. This page is all about community support. If you see that your friend has been falling behind, shoot them an inspirational text or offer to carpool to class! Here we celebrate wellness as a team, for we all know that without love and community, we have nothing.
A question I have been asking myself as I prepare for this challenge is, “Where does motivation come from?” It is some ephemeral, elastic being that moves through us all, but how do we harbor it and feed it like a fire within us?
For me, motivation comes and goes as it pleases. I have some days where I could climb Mount Everest and still write a 20 page dissertation after, while some days the distance between my bed and the floor is its own Everest. The hard part about The Challenge is not the yoga, we love yoga! The actual challenge is consistency. For 40 days you are challenging yourself to stay
continuously motivated; and that is easier said than done.
I believe motivation comes from the soul, and without direction the soul is nothing but a burning passion. I urge you, before you begin this challenge, to journal, meditate or simply consider your purpose, your intention. Why are you doing the challenge? What do you want to get out of this experience and why? Is this for your physical health, your mental health or something else? When we write things down like this, it creates a concrete mental intention. It gives us something tangible to look back on and remember. Anytime you feel like you want to quit, reconnect with your intention. Let the power of “why” realign your priorities and then jump back onto that mat!
Not only can we use the power of our own mind to our advantage, but at Hollywood Market there are always people you can lean on when your motivation is dipping low. Whether it is letting your instructor know that you aren’t feeling your best or getting to know someone in the locker room after class, support is around every corner. Just look at the long list of names on the challenge sheet and you will see an entire community of people who are wishing you success!
No matter where you are in your practice, Hollywood Market is here to encourage your growth and happiness. In this community we support each other through sweat, love each other through lethargy, and meet each other exactly where we are at, mat or mattress.
