Hot Sculpt
What is Hot Sculpt?
Hot sculpt is an energetic fitness class rooted in yogic principles. It is designed to build muscles that you use in your everyday practice, making it extremely beneficial to the dedicated yogi. Recently, I took a hot sculpt class with instructor Alyssa Goade that opened my eyes to the merits of sculpt.
With her unwavering positivity and support, Alyssa guides you through a warm up, 5-7 dynamic supersets, and a cool down. Hot Sculpt is a class that uses light-weight dumbbells and intense cardio bursts to keep your heart pumping and calories burning. The upbeat music booming in your ear combined with Alyssa’s encouraging cues will keep you motivated and focused on the workouts at hand. This class will add a passionate edge to your practice.
Why Hot Sculpt?
As I painstakingly pushed through yet another round of mountain climbers in Alyssa’s class I hastily decided that I was not a Hot Sculpt girly, it simply wasn’t for me. However, when I attended Hot Hour the very next day I noticed the muscles that were sore from my Hot Sculpt class were the exact ones I was activating in my typical practice. That is the ingenuity of sculpt; it hones in on the athleticism of yoga. This class will build muscle creatively to give you the building blocks for a deeply meditative practice. The cardio bursts will prepare your lungs for the challenge of managing your breath throughout a class, keeping your mind and body connected with greater ease. Building your muscle will allow you to focus less on the physical sensation of muscle fatigue and more on the movement of energy through your body. Attending a weekly Hot Sculpt will strengthen your practice.
Who is Hot Sculpt For?
Hot Sculpt is for anyone seeking more strength in their practice, a high-intensity workout or something more upbeat than traditional vinyasa! Alyssa and our other Hot Sculpt instructors do an amazing job of making their poses easy to modify and establish an environment that is welcoming to all, no matter where you are at in your fitness journey. While Hot Sculpt is beginner friendly, I would not recommend it if you have never done hot yoga before. The heat combined with the cardio bursts can be extremely overwhelming to your cardiovascular and endocrine systems which may result in heat exhaustion or passing out. Trust me— the first hot class I ever attended was a Hot Sculpt and I had to step out of the room to escape the heat multiple times. If you are brand new, consider starting with Hot Hour and Vinyasa to acclimate your body to the heat. Then, add this into your routine when you are ready to intensify your practice.
You have the option to commit to attending Alyssa’s Sunday @ 10:45AM class every week, or you can switch up your instructor! Each instructor brings a different energy to the studio as well as new moves and styles that you can bring into your personal practice. Hollywood Market offers 4 different Hot Sculpt classes a week, each with a different instructor. If you are looking for some energetic variety in your practice, consider scheduling Hot Sculpt into your weekly routine!
